I received a promo sheet with the cd that tells the following:

"Made up of computer dorks and trained musicians, Harrys Laundry are emerging as one of the more experimental hybrids in electronic music today. Integrating strings and skins with LFOs & 909s, they create infectious trance grooves enhanced by the energy of realtime human injection and fantasy trash theatrics.

Described as everything from "Deep Purple on a microchip diet" to "the new Earth, Wind & Fire", Harrys Laundry require some tasting before any definition can be made.

Under the influence of massive doses of VSR (Virtual Sound Reality) the Laundry are currently concocting Edition #2 without the help of established studio facilities. They believe the era of the bedroom Grammy is upon us and never again shall shy creative people be subject to lavish lobbies or artistically inept record salesman.

Harrys Laundry emerged from the decaying live band scene in Melbourne around 1991, at that stage with a line-up including keyboards, samplers, live drums and bass, guitars, vocalist and a percussionist. Not a DJ in sight. Harrys Laundry released a limited edition cd 'Gimps and Toks' which became popular with local radio and JJJ, who picked up the track "Dirty Things" - a fusion of dance/funk grooves and ambient/guitar keyboard swirlings all woven together with a superbly melodic male voice... driving music at it's best.

Around this time, the group become known for its dynamic and aggressively lazy live performances that rambled endlessly with comments from punters like "I felt like I was on some kind of weird planet" and "I don't know what went on last night but today my body is doing strange things".

In '93 the Laundry landed in sunny Bondi sometime on a Tuesday afternoon. From there it was a series of lounge-room sessions (complete with one channel of 40 watt monitoring), basement jams, 21 complaints from a budding Sylvia Plath, winding through the tunnels of Pyrmont into darkness and emerging in Airspace Studios, Redfern for the construction of what would become "Disco Prickle".

A major aspect of the conception of Disco Prickle was the interaction between the musicians and the DJs who act as instrumentalists mixing beats, atmospheric musings jamming on the decks to spontaneously create the trashy trance. This was all happening in a little room in Pyrmont and again at recovery parties. This jousting between musicians and DJs continued at "Pulp" (a twisted little party graced by the presence of Melbourne's Mad Rod and beginning the inclusion of live contemporary movement performance). Disco Prickle came to fruition at the Marble bar in October 94 - the name of the psycho cabaret party which also lends itself to the title of Harrys CD. The album was recorded live at Disco Prickle, and then reworked later in the studio, by the Laundry themselves, and guest mixers Rev Hartley, Ming D, Abel, Peter Hemesly and David Lackey.

Many gigs and parties later, including sharing the bill with Sven Vath, the Laundry is flying high above Kings Cross surrounded by the chants of karaoke, wanna-be pop-tarts, fire engines and the dodgy murmurings of the fly by night journalists living in penthouses."
