Åsmund Frægdegjevar is a medieval Norwegian legend and ballad classification: TSB E 145 with several variations all detailing the adventures of a hero by the same name who is hired by the king to rescue a princess. It is based on a fornaldarsaga. The story starts as many fairytales do: the fair princess has been captured and imprisoned in a faraway castle, and the King commissions a hero, in this case Åsmund, to rescue her. He and his brothers take the King's flagship Ormin Lange to the castle of. Åsmund Frægdegjevar is the first full-length album by the Norwegian folk metal band Lumsk. It was released on August 25, 2003 by Spinefarm. A concept album, it adapts the Norwegian legend Åsmund Frægdegjevar into an experimental folk metal project. Det var Irlands kongi bold 2:08. This is a musical and lyrical tale of how Åsmund Fregdegjævar is appointed by the king, then boarding Ormin Lange kings finest ship then sailing off to Trollebotten ogre castle. Where he does battle with Skomegyvri and later rescues the princess kings daughter. Åsmund Fregdegjævar towards the end returns to the King with the Princess and some of Skomegyvri's treasure.
