All Days Are Nights: Songs For Lulu - Rufus Wainwright. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей коллекцией. All Days Are Nights: Songs for Lulu is the sixth studio album by Canadian-American singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright, first released in Canada through Decca Records on March 23, 2010. The album was produced by Wainwright with Pierre Marchand on three tracks, and mixed by Marchand, who produced Wainwright's second album, Poses 2001. All Days Are Nights is Wainwright's first release since the death of his mother, folk singer Kate McGarrigle, who died from cancer in January 2010. While Wainwright is. Rufus Wainwright marks his sixth studio album with All Days Are Nights: Songs For Lulu, to be released April 20th on the Decca Label Group. The album was written and produced by Wainwright with two songs produced and one co-produced by Pierre Marchand, who also mixed Days Are Nights: Songs for Lulu finds singersongwriter Rufus Wainwright stripping back the operatic flourishes of his 2007 album Release the Stars to deliver a stark and deeply personal collection of songs. Where Stars often featured large backing ensemble arrangements, here Wainwright simply accompanies himself on piano, allowing the lyrics of these poetic, introspective songs and his voice to take the spotlight. It is clear that Wainwright wrote and recorded much of All Days Are Nights during her illness, and themes of loss, depression, and sadness permeate these songs. Rufus Wainwright seems only fitfully interested in being a pop musician. That's certainly his prerogative, but it's not great for those who love the things he can do with a four-minute tune. Throughout his admirable yet frustrating career, Wainwright's assorted passions for opera, for theatre, for Judy Garland have led his music down paths that were often more intriguing in theory than execution. Wainwright gets closer than ever to that vanishing point of self-absorption on his latest effort, All Days Are Nights: Songs for Lulu. The only things you hear on the album are Wainwright's voice and his piano, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. by Rufus Wainwright. Record Label: Decca. Release Date: Apr 20, 2010. Summary: The sixth album for the singer-songwriter has a more stripped-down feel with Rufus' voice and piano as the focus plus three tracks based on Shakespeare's sonnets and an aria from the opera he wrote. Genres: Rock, Pop, Singer-Songwriter. Rufus Wainwright. Released March 23, 2010. All Days Are Nights: Songs for Lulu Tracklist. Who Are You New York. This album is a product of my reaction to the various momentous occasions I was experiencing, whether it was my mothers health or the opera Prima Donna or the Judy Garland show or my touring. I was really drawn to the piano, the main reason being that it was where I could be alone and I could sort of tell everybody to skidaddle, and these songs started to come. It was a way for me to exorcise or sacrifice music to this great hurt and wounded and volatile part of myself instead of perhaps going out and doing it at the bar, I decided to do it as music. Less than a year after the premiere of his first opera, Prima Donna, Rufus Wainwright embarks on a simpler musical journey with his sixth studio album, All Days Are Nights: Songs for Lulu. With nine original songs and three adaptations of Shakespearean sonnets, Wainwright's solo piano accompaniment highlights his extremely adaptable voice in a different manner from previous efforts. On Sonnet 43, where Shakespeare's narrator longs for his absent lover, Wainwright reaches the lowest range of his rich tenor over gentle chords. But Give Me What
